Mexico Approves Silver-Ion Water Purification System - No Chlorine Necessary

The Mexican government has approved a silver-based, non-chlorine water treatment system for drinking water.
The government has given the nod to NVID International Inc., Clearwater, Florida, which produces a silver-ionization system for disinfecting water without the use of chlorine. In a public statement, Dr. Gustavo Olaiz Fernandez, Director General of Environmental Health, said that the company's new Random Metering System (RMS) was tested and proven effective against water-borne pathogens and is approved for all potable water applications. The system is designed as an adjunct to low-level chlorine dosing or as a stand-alone alternative to traditional chlorine disinfection.
During the past few years, many municipal drinking water systems and individual pool systems have chosen to reduce or eliminate halogen-based water purification systems because of the potential for carcinogenic harm from halogen chemicals like chlorine and fluorine.
